Fake Tan- A Short History…
Saturday, July 17th, 2010In Celebration of Our Fantastic £10 Spray Tan Deal for the Holiday Season Heaven Spa gives you…The History of Fake-Tan!
1960 saw the worlds first fake tan, Coppertone’s Quick Tanning Lotion, 40 years later the industry is still booming with new brands and product lines being launched by the month!
The early WAG-esque terracotta/orange shades of tan, that made our favourite celebrities look almost muddy was caused by an unrefined version of the tanning wonder ingredient DHA, this clear sugar reacts with the skin leading to the darkening of skin tone.
Our firm favourite St.Tropez has been around for 14 years now! Beautician legend Robyn Gibbons, saved our tanning lives on the west coast of America in the late nineties with the first NATURAL LOOKING TAN! And we haven’t looked back since! Gibbons found the new sophisticated version of DHA that was totally streak-free giving those of us who are tan-challenged that Hispanic glow, minus the umpa-lumpa comparisons!
Any tan connoisseur will be all too familiar with the biscuity smell that comes as a sacrifice to a golden body. St Tropez came to the rescue once again with their Aromaguard formula, manufacturing fake tan not only without the McVities Digestive scent, but with a far sweeter fragrance!
Today fake tan is loved by actors and designers alike. Gerard Butler famously sent his birthday guests a complimentary visit from his own professional spray tanner, to ensure they were adequately bronzed for his Chinawhites party! The likes of Gucci and Roberto Cavalli are all using greek god skinned models in their spring summer campaigns.
The very latest in the tanning world is the new 3-D Tan, which gives you a contoured look. Try this out with He-Shi Express Liquid Tan at £20 here at Heaven!
