7 decades of Glamour- 1970’s
Friday, August 27th, 2010The 1970’s saw the maxi dress, the emergence of the tru boho and the age of disco, which brought with it jumpsuits and glitter! Eyebrows were skinny and lips were glossy. Colours were pastel shades of blue, purple and green, monochrome was gone and softer palletes were hot. Where pastels weren’t used, colour was kept natural and bohemian, this was the first time natural beauty and minimal make-up had really been embraced.
Maud adams is a true 70’s beauty queen, the first and only woman to have the honour of being a bond girl twice! In 1974 In the Man with the Golden Gun and 1983 Octupussy. Her make-up and hair is barely there, yet she looks glamourous all the same, tans in this era were real real real and hair was beachy all the year round.
Today Nicole Ritchie still reps a cool and edgy 70s style that has kept her on the best dressed pages of magazines for years! Her over sized shades and looser clothing, with boho accesories makes her styling effortlessly cool and timeless.
- A fresh looking natural base is J0ane Iredale’s Dream Tint, one of the best jane Iredael products is Dream Tint Lilac Brightner. This should be applied to cheekbones and just below your eyebrows to highlight higher areas on the face, it creates a great base for the dream tint to sit on. Foundations are best left for this look, as we want skin to be soft, luminious and natural looking.
- If you want to give some pastels a try; Jane Iredale’s Sea Foam for greens and blues or Pink Bliss for purpley pink. These are great for 70s whispy eyes, as the pallete has 3 shades, so blending should be easy. If you would rather keep eyes more skin tonal, try Jane Iredale’s Sweet spot, and focus on a gleaming and stunning complexion.
- Similar to 60s lips, glosses were still great on plumped up lips, this time with hints of colour. Jane Iredale’s Sugar plump in Madrid will plump lips with a purple colour. Puregloss in sugar plum is beautiful when worn over the top. Again if maud is more your kinda girl try Just Kissed lip plumper in Milan, this is closer to natural skin tone and is best used without a gloss, just keep it simple.
