Muse of the Week- Giselle Bundchen

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Roberto Cavalli is this year celebrating his 20th anniversary and who better to be the face of his campaign than Giselle, the once most highly paid supermodel in the world. She’s post baby and looking AMAZING, but her hair was by my far my favourite part. The golden locks never seem to really change and we can see why, what a beauty!

Some of the best products to achieve her look are from the Wella High Hair range; The Wella High Hair Styling Moose would be great after washing for extra volume for your blow dry. Or to create a more natural hold and give body to the hair try very appropriately named Add some body.

The movement range is also perfect for this look, why not try Curl Energy for moisturized and shiny curls with great hold! Although Giselle’s hair is not curly, to achieve volume and windswept hair. Finish off with Marrakesh Oil, this non-greasy oil will leave hair looking shiny and healthy even if it isn’t! And is a great final touch for all hair styling. For an even better blow dry than your own why not come in to see Zackia, a blow dry is only £17 and is guaranteed to last for days!!

Giselle is of course famous for her bronze Brazilian skin and her styling in this makes the most out of it. Why not try our critically acclaimed He-Shi range, we stock all He-Shi products, including the fab bronzer! Click here too see more!

Heaven’s New Hair Range- Wella High Hair

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

This fabulous new range from Wella works on combining 4 vital elements

  • Volume
  • Movement
  • Shine and Straight
  • Freestyle

On top of these elements products are masterfully organised in range of hold-factor…

  • Natural Hold
  • Light Hold
  • Firm Hold
  • Ultra Hold

This means every hair type and style desire is attended to! Wella High Hair uses styling products with a multi-protect formula and pro vitamin B5 which strengthens and improves hair structure. Hair is left shiny, smooth, well moisturised, the products even protect from UV rays and heat damage! Click Here for full Product Listings.

Although the range is fairly extensive, I have picked the best from each category!

From the VOLUME range I love Add Some Body, its great hold and makes curls look naturally bouncy, not stiff. It isn’t too sticky either, just great smooth shiny hold!

In the MOVEMENT range, Curl Artist is another lovely product, it is best used by spritzing onto hair before using GHD’s or curlers to curl hair, again it leaves hair flexible yet perfectly styled.

In STYLE & STRAIGHT, Sleek Wonder is handy for every kind of use, from formal occasions to your holiday back bag. It tames the hair from root to tip leaving it soft and supple.

FREESTYLE can be used for both women’s and men’s hair; Crackle Wax is great as it has excellent hold with anti-frizz, it also crackles and pops in your hand!

Cashmere Skin with Jane Iredale

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

September’s Elle has devoted a whole editorial to how important great skin is this season. Skin should be ‘healthy, expensive and sculpted in a warm palette of honey caramel and cream.’ We should always aim to stay fairly close to our natural skin tones for an authentic glow. Cheek bones gleam and lips should be plumped (why not try Jane Iredale Lip Plump, they come in a range of shades and act as a quick fix to get Angelina Jolie lips)! My favourite images were of the real life china doll-esque VIKTOR and ROLF models, their skin was almost masque like it was so perfect and luminous.

From the recent photos the model’s skin caught my eye, there seemed to be pain staking effort  purely on skin tone, complexion and highlight. Jane Iredale offers some stunning products purely for this area. For a great under eye concealer try Jane Iredale Active Light under eye concealer, perfectly bright eyes add so much to a porcelain face. For an even better concealer for smaller areas is Jane Iredale’s Disappear with Green Tea Extra. The most fantastic base I would always opt for is Jane Iredale Dream Tint with an inbuilt SPF 15. Finally Jane Iredale’s Amazing Matte Powder is amazing for a flawless finish, without looking caked!

But what did everyone do in LONDON…?

PRADA presented perfect complexions with an understated sheen; try Jane Iredale Dream Tint SPF 15 for radiant glowing coverage.

GILES used toffee tones for their models, a great toffee is Jane Iredale’s Pure Pressed Blush in Bronze. It provides a deep brown tone without looking artificial.

JULIAN MACDONALD used pale peach blush warming up the complexion. For this I recommend my blusher of choice Jane Iredale’s Pure Pressed Blush in Cooper Wind.

VERSACE used skin flushed with fresh colour combined with radiant skin. For a flawless finish with a radiant base try Jane Iredale’s Absence Oil Control Primer and Jane Iredale Pommisst Spray to set the minerals and leave your skin glowing!

Milan’s Little Wing using Jane Iredale

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Winged black smokey eyes were a hit in Milan earlier this month, the shape was crucial with high feline influences. The look is versatile as it can be played down for the day with thinner black frames around the eyes and smaller cat flicks, or for the night in true glamazon style!

Maxmara’s Tom Pecheux blended inky shadows of black creating a thick straight line, rather than using a simple eye pencil I would advise a Jane Iredale Cream to Powder Eyeliner in Black Plus. This can be used as a block colour and also as a blending tool, fabulous for Tom’s beautiful eyes. He also added gold highlight in the corners, Jane Iredale’s 24K Dust in Gold is perfect for this. Photos show the effects were almost sci-fi like!

Blumarine used a deep chocolate liner to frame the eye. Brown offers a great alternative that is less intense to black and brown is a great shade for most, I love Jane Iredale’s Basic Brown Eyeliner and to blend the cat eye a deep mocha; try Jane Iredale Single Press Eye Shadow in Deep Suede.

DSQUARED2 used a carbon shadow, this time with extra elongation into the temples creating a a stunning cat-like effect. For this Jane Iredale Basic Black Eyeliner should be used for a thick frame and then a black eye shadow for extra shading, taking the flick out around 1 and half to 2 cm for the perfect DSQUARED2 look!

New Products in He-Shi Line!

The Founding of He-Shi

In today’s tanning obsessed culture, fake tans are without doubt an important element in most women’s beauty regimes. He-Shi’s collection of ‘at home tanning’ products are easy to use and very accessible and offer women the chance to be bronzed in gloomy January to a pre holiday tan  in July! Since its all female launch in 2004 (founders Hilary & Shelley McMurray, He-Shi’s awards have been endless and press coverage extensive. Better yet He-Shi is different from other tanning products, it tans the skin on contact making it easier than ever to avoid streaking, its odourless and is a liquid…so it dries quickly too.

He-Shi Press

He-shi has taken the beauty industry by storm in the last year alone with coverage in over 45 editorials! Make-up artists and stylists alike love the natural colour, sweet rose scent and easy application. What I found particularly great about He-Shi is how it tints your skin, working with your own pigmentation. Most other tans on the market simply create a brown and in worst case scenario’s orange mask over the skin. Whether you have dark or light skin He-Shi will work for you.

Most recently He-Shi has featured in Augusts Observer monthly magazine, in the Best Olive Tan’s according to their beauty writer Alice Hart-Davis. He-Shi Express Tan was also well documented in The Salon Magazine as one of their best buys in fake tanning. The Sunday Express shortlisted the He-Shi Bronzer and again in August Elle’s editorial named Beauty Notes rated He-Shi Day to Day Gradual Tan very highly!

Earlier in this year in an April Grazia issue,  He-Shi’s Express Tan £20 won a place in their “Barely there’s” feature devoted to fake tans that could look natural on even the paler skin types. While in July both Now and Grazia agreed saying it was perfect for the Pixie Lott’s and Kirsten Dunst’s of us who aren’t blessed with Brazilian skin! Most prestigious yet, Vogue beauty writer James Read said He-Shi was the “best fake tan for paler skin” in August’s issue, whilst in Stella’s May issue fashion designer Jenny Packham gave the He-shi express facial tanning gel (£12.50) a place in her make-up bag!

Not only has the fake tan range impressed us, but the He-Shi Bronzer and Kabuki Bronzer Brush caught Prima’s eye and featured in the He-Shi Bronzer in their “best bronzer’s” article in the August issue. Cosmo also loved the cheaper price tag of the He-Shi Facial Tanning Gel (£14.50) as did the Sunday Express!

He-Shi’s awards speak for themselves!  He-Shi’s Day to Day Gradual tan won an Image Beauty Award this year, also winning a Cosmopolitan Beauty Award at their Kensington Roof Garden awards night in July. In addition to this He-Shi has taken the Best Fake Tan award in the European Products Awards.

All in all, He-Shi is new generation tanning & we love their recent line extensions, including a He-Shi One day Wash Off, He-Shi Tanning Mit, He-Shi Souffle Moisturiser, He-Shi Exfoliating Body Wash.

We stock a full line of He-Shi products, click on the product links on this page to be directed straight to the Heaven-Spa shop.

Hair School

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Cosmopolitan’s recent September issue has some great looks, that are manageable and easy to create, here’s today’s step by step guide through my favourite hair look’s this month using our best sellers the Tigi Love Peave and Planet range and Marrakesh Oil!

Side Swept Hair

Sarah Jessica Parker looks great with this style, usually styling it up with a huge corsage or hair accessory!

  • Once hair is freshly washed style with curling tongs and a little Tigi Rockaholic Fun Times Flexible Hairspray. This is great for this style as it provides great hold but your curls will still have movement.
  • Next gather all your hair to one side (i always try and gather mine on my best photo side!) and secure with pins.
  • To finish the look you could create a slight side quiff, giving your hair volume for extra glamour. Finish with the old faithful Marrakesh Oil.

Slept in Hair

Beach hair is not just a summer look, un-kept and natural surfer girl hair is said to be fabulous for the coming months. Think Ivy from 90210, Gossip Girl Blake Lively and from time to time Sienna Miller. Surely an excuse to embrace not doing much to your hair should be a good thing? Cosmopolitan love it and so does Emilio Pucci and Marc Jacobs. His recent New York Autumn Winter show presented golden haired natural beauties with natural sleep-over styling. We <3 how easy it is!

  • Part hair in the middle using fingers  and spray Tigi Love Peace Planet Free your Mind Hard Holdspray into the parting to create texture.
  • For extra waves I find twisting hair round my fingers and curling the hair into a mini bun on my head effective. Clip them in for 5 minutes and quickly blast with a hairdryer.
  • Take the clips out and you’ll be a Californian girl!

City Chic Make-Up

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

In the summer months our complexions are assaulted by UV rays and exhaust fumes, they react to  free radicals that age the skin and eat away at skins vitamins. It should be paramount for us all to wear a good SPF level all the year round but even more so for those sex and the city breaks in the sun! To keep skin healthy, protected and fresh stick to these simple rules.

Always apply a primer to ensure your make-up stays in place. Primers also create a good clean canvas in which to apply your base and Jane Iredale’s Absence is great (£33). City environments clog pores and create oil on the surface of your skin that can cause your skin to become patchy.

Next a good oil free tinted moisturizer, for this try Dream Tint (£29.95). Tinted moisturizers are ideal for the summer months, keeping your face dewy and glowing. Better still Dream Tint comes with an SPF 15!

Carrying blotting papers £9.50 can be a great trick to minimize oil around your t-zone without having to completely re-apply make-up.

3 truly amazing Jane Iredale products are facial spritz D20, Pommisst and facial spritz Balance. D20 sets the minerals in the dream tint moisturizer and has the most incredible scent of ylang ylang, whilst Pommisst soothes and uplifts the face. Balance is a great option if you have oily skin as it too sets the minerals in dream tint whilst preventing break outs.

All products are available at the Didsbury store and online, so enjoy your city skin!

Hair School

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

We started with Perfect Ponies, Hair School is designed to guide your creativity with your hair!

Nicole Ritchie loves plaits, and usually sports a “Heidi Halo”, it might look tricky but i promise you its not!

  • Part hair in the middle and leave the front sections loose.
  • Back comb the crown area adding height, and tuck into a chignon
  • Take the hair from each side and plait around the chignon.
  • To set use Redken Glass-Look £16.75, to leave hair shiny on top.

Jessica Alba suits most hair up-do’s but the messy bun seems to be a favourite!

  • Hair can be parted either in the middle or at the side with a parting to match
  • Tie hair into a loose pony tail and twist the hair around the pony tail
  • For an elegant bun the pony tail should be lower on the crown, higher buns are ideal for the red carpet as we’ve seen on Beyonce and Eva Longoria.
  • Pull out pieces of hair and style with Marrakesh Oil (£19.95) to avoid fly-aways on the scalp.

For a beautiful Grecian Braid, Rachel McAdam has it sorted.

  • Create a side parting
  • Take sections 1.5inches thick either side of the parting and french braid to the ends of the hair, secure with a tiny elastic.
  • Gather hair into a bun and secure with pins.
  • Alternatively leave hair down.

We’ll leave this with you for now! More additions will be made to Hair School!
