Muse for the Week- Rosie Huntington Whiteley!

Friday, July 30th, 2010

This week our Muse is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and we chose her for her beach style tussled golden locks and we are going to show you how to achieve it!

Marie Claire loves Rosie’s locks and so do we! The key to her cut is to keep the movement in her natural and effortless hair. To achieve this hair should be blow dried straight following up with gently curling the ends with straightening irons, only a little hair spray is needed to keep hair in place. Too much spray will result in laquered and 80’s dynasty hair! (YUK!)

Rosie’s colourist has made her style almost timeless, the ends are kept lighter as this is the way the hair would naturally colour in the sun, her roots are slightly darker. There have been no highlights across the middle parting so she has no regrowth issues, rosies colour is easily maintained aswell!

Finally the condition of her hair is also immaculate. Longer hair is usually weaker as it subject to over styling, brushing and weather conditions. Also colouring longer hair is problematic so intense moisturizing treatments should be used every time hair is washed. And heat protector sprays for styling!

Rosie’s style is both manageable and sexy, her colour is perfect for summer! Book in now for a hair consultation and re-new your look!

The party all night hair gel

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Although hair styling has thankfully moved away from poker straight and decidedly frazzled looking locks to simply smooth and sleek, some of us are still guilty of over styling and under protecting.

With the masses of heat protection products on the market, there really is no excuse for subjecting our crowning glory to extremes of temperatures usually only found in the Sahara desert!

This month, we are obsessed with Redkens’ ‘Blown away’ 09 protective blow dry gel.

Before you start to panic that you may have fallen through a government engineered black hole and landed back in the 1980s,

let me reassure you that this is completely new millennium technology. This amazing product not only acts like a hairspray, serum and gloss-in-one, but it also contains ‘hair memory’ technology which maintains your style, and the big plus to this range of products is that when you reapply heat with your dryer or styling irons, the polymers are reactivated and continue to protect, de-frizz and smooth without further application, Fabuloso! Especially if like naughty me, you ‘comb’ your hair with the straighteners!!

Simply apply a grape sized amount of gel to damp hair and blow dry… What could be easier?

The Brasiliana effect

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Many thanks to Abigail Burton for this fabulous feedback.

“I would certainly recommend the Brasiliana hair treatment coming from someone who has serious difficulty with hair styling.

I have long frizzy hair which usually takes me about an hour to straighten.  However, since having the Brasiliana treatment by Heaven spa Specialist Scott, my hair takes no more than 15 mins to blow dry. I literally blast it with the hairdryer and don’t even use a brush! I haven’t used the GHD’s once since having the treatment and everyone has noticed how shiny my hair is.

I am definitely going to have it done again, it has revolutionised my life!”

The Great Straighteners Debate

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Your current pair of straighteners has just died and you’re left with the life changing dilemma of which straighteners to buy next. This difficult decision would ruffle anyone’s feathers so at Heaven Spa we have decided to give you a little helping hand in making your decision. To gain an insight into what brand people love best and where people are getting the best experiences we ran a poll on Facebook. The poll asked 97 women what are your favourite hair straighteners?

facebook poll

The results in someway are fairly surprising. We expected the GHD’s to come up highly as they have an excellent product and the marketing for the product is quite staggering. Despite the early safety worries with GHD’s they have gone on to create high quality and reliable straighteners. The biggest surprise from the results is the performance of She. At Heaven Spa we see She Hair straighteners as an up and coming product and many of our customers have been asking about them. At our salons we like to let customers try out different straighteners.

The other surprise was how close Remington and Babyliss came together. We thought that people would either favour one or the other as they both offer quite similar products and at reasonable prices. It maybe the case that people test both brands and that the difference between the two is minimal.

Other things to consider include budget and usage. GHD’s for example are expensive but you are paying for the unrivalled quality. Whereas if you are on a budget then you may wish to consider Remington or Babyliss straighteners. From the poll we can see these products are popular with people and they are known for their sturdiness. If you are really flash then you may want to consider purchasing a pair of GHD straighteners for everyday use and then a secondary cheap pair of straighteners for travelling. This seems to be a popular option at the moment.

Whichever straighteners you decide to buy Heaven Spa can help. We sell a range of straighteners including GHD straighteners and She Hair straighteners.

S&M Hair

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

S and M HairMy recent people watching has alerted me to the increase in the blatant new trend in hair fashions; S&M. There seems to be a total lack of shame in which the fairer sex flaunt this hair abuse. If we started inflicting this behaviour upon any other part of the body we would be locked up or at least branded a freak!

This is not how we truly look good naked and I’m telling you no Brazilian, Hollywood or even a Sicilian wax will compensate for your punished and abused mane.

When was the last time any of you stopped and asked whether this hair colour will improve the condition of your hair, or maybe asked if your hair would benefit from a deep conditioning treatment? Is your hair now so lacking in any moisture and shine you wouldn’t reflect a search light? Perhaps you purchase a straw hat if that’s what you want on your head!

At your recent visit to your hairdresser, you defiantly said ‘no’ to the suggestion of the in-salon treatment and ‘no’ to the home hair care products the stylist recommended to you. Even though it was the first time your hair has even resembled hair in the past six weeks. Maybe next time you are unsure of what your 240 degree hair straightening irons are doing, pop your oven on full heat at home and see how long you can keep your head in it before you need the A&E department.

No, off you pop like an ecstasy fuelled magpie to the nearest supermarket in search of further hair suicide. Yes, I have seen you flouncing up and down the toiletries aisle asking yourself does the bottle match the bathroom and of course does it smell nice? By now your hair is that dehydrated its sucking the Evian out of the shelves in the next aisle!

So next time you are at the hairdresser, ask them to recommend some products. They are the professional, so ask them to allow a product exchange if you are not happy with its performance. If they say no, it means they have no faith in what they are selling – maybe its time you changed your hairdresser.

Thinking of changing your colour? Firstly, don’t do it yourself, it will cost you 20 times the price of the product you buy to put it right. Secondly, ask your stylist to do a strand test and then you can see the condition and colour end result on a few strands of your hair not on your entire head. And remember an in-salon hair treatment is more than just a conditioner – they can really make a difference to the ongoing health and appearance of your hair.
